Lineage Research offers AI-assisted, human-reviewed genealogy investigations based on lawfully accessible historical information. The business operator is James Rose Holdings LLC.
Standard project scope
The $200 USD standard project covers one defined genealogy question about a person, couple, or closely related family line. It includes relevant online-accessible records, analysis, citations, a written report, human review, and suggested next steps. It does not cover an entire family tree or unlimited research.
Custom projects
DNA analysis, adoption or unknown parentage, living-person inquiries, legal documentation, heirship, extensive physical archive work, formal lineage proof, expert testimony, and unrelated family branches require review. A custom inquiry is submitted without payment. Any custom scope and price must be separately agreed.
Customer responsibilities
Provide accurate starting information where possible, distinguish facts from guesses, and share only information you have the right to provide. Do not submit account passwords, unlawfully obtained records, or unnecessary sensitive information about living people. You are responsible for ensuring that shared links have suitable permissions.
Payment and research timing
Standard projects are paid through Stripe Checkout before detailed intake. Research starts after payment verification, receipt of sufficient intake, and scope review. Expect your standard research report by email in 3–5 days after payment and completed intake. If we need more information or identify a scope issue, we’ll contact you to explain the next step and any change to timing. Estimates are not guaranteed deadlines.
Research uncertainty and historical inaccuracies
The purchase is for research effort and analysis, not a guaranteed genealogical result. Historical records may be incomplete, inaccurate, destroyed, restricted, or unavailable. We do not guarantee discoveries, parentage, place of origin, famous connections, or access to a particular source. Reports may contain negative findings or unresolved questions.
Third-party source availability
Source availability and access permissions can change. Subscriptions or archive fees may apply to viewing some referenced records. We are independent of genealogy platforms and do not claim unrestricted or unauthorized access to their data.
AI-assisted research disclosure
AI may help with searching strategies, organizing, comparing, translating, and analyzing information. Human review and underlying historical evidence guide important conclusions. An AI-generated suggestion is not itself a historical source.
Reports, intellectual property, and permitted use
You may use your delivered report for personal family-history research and share it with family, preserving citations and qualifications. Third-party records remain subject to their owners’ rights and access terms. Reports are not legal proof, expert testimony, or a guarantee of eligibility for citizenship, inheritance, or a lineage society. Any broader commercial use should be agreed with the business.
Privacy
The Privacy Policy describes intended handling of contact information, genealogy data, research tools, payment information, and retention. Please read it before submitting a project.
Cancellations and refunds
If we determine before substantive research begins that your project cannot reasonably be handled within the standard scope, we offer a full refund or the opportunity to approve a custom proposal. Once substantive research has begun, refunds are not guaranteed merely because surviving records do not produce the answer you hoped for. This does not limit any mandatory consumer rights. To request cancellation or discuss a refund, contact us with your public project reference. Refunds are processed through the original payment provider where possible.
Liability
Research is interpretive and depends on available evidence. Do not rely on a report alone for legal, financial, or other consequential decisions. Any limitation of liability applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law and cannot exclude non-excludable consumer rights.
